Do you ever feel that we should do more as a community to welcome those who flee war and persecution?
By volunteering with DAR you can make a real difference to the lives of refugees and asylum seekers in Darlington and the North East.
Our volunteers come in many different guises. Everyone brings their own unique set of skills and qualities to the team. What we share is a strong commitment to promoting social inclusion and empowerment based on compassion and the recognition that we are all equal.
If you too share this commitment and want to become part of our team, there are many areas of work in which you could get involved: from teaching English, to tutoring, to fundraising, to orgainising events, just to say a few. Whether you are a great cook, a teacher, a manager, or an amazing listener, we are excited about whatever you could bring on board!
We also need people who can help with house moves, sourcing furniture and appliances, and most importantly, who can offer their time: time to visit, sit and listen, go to the park with, to be there when difficulties arise, a shoulder to cry on a person to share joy with.
Volunteering with us could make a difference to your own life as well.
DAR gives volunteers the opportunity to exchange ideas and share experiences with
delightful, admirable people whose lives would not normally intersect with our own. It
is a privilege to meet and work with them.
